Ireland’s GGC Crew are the grand winners of the 2014 KBS K-Pop World Festival! Not PRISM, but we are very proud of our neighbours!

There were 15 finalists performing in Changwon, South Korea, on October 19, in front of 25,000 K-pop fans gathered in the giant outdoor stadium.

And after deliberation by the judges, the Irish hip hop group GGC Crew was declared as the grand prize winner, bringing back 10,000 euros to Ireland. It is the first time a team from Ireland qualifies and even more wins the grand finale. The crew is made of Lisa Craddock, Jennifer Purdy, Niamh Carroll, Ali Flood, Kellie Murnaghan, Jessie McGovern and Sally-Anne Burke. Interesting to note as well that none of them has Asian origins!

The seven girls who are all in their late teens/early twenties had qualified in their home country and came on top to represent Ireland.

The judges made their decision based on creativity, musicality and passion, awarding the girls for their skilful combination of Irish culture and style with their K-pop choreography.

Until the finale’s performances are published online, have a look at their qualification performance:
