In early November 2014, the first FestivalAsia festival was officially announced to take place on May 15 to 17 at the Tobacco Dock (50 Porters Walk, London E1W 2SF).

From mid-November, exhibitors have been invited to submit their application for a stand at the venue of the festival. Taking the opportunity of the very early bird submission period (ending December 31), we decided that the London Korean Drama Club will be having a stand at the festival.

Not only will we be present at the venue, but we have also agreed to be media partners of the festival, and as such will be providing coverage of anything relevant to you, our audience.

Given that the three organizing companies are in the music business (World Concert Artists, Lilisan, Barley Arts Promotion), it is certain that music performers will take the stage. With singer Li Li among the organizers and Taste of Thai as media partner, China and Thailand will surely be well represented.

A few Korean organizations are said to have expressed their interest, and we hope they will take part. Numerous categories will be covered with the opportunity to see a wide range of cultural practices. Among the obvious representatives will be Kpop, Korean food and Taekwondo. But we hope to be able to see Gayageum music performances as well as Geommu dance – like the one featuring in Korean TV drama, Hwang Jin Yi.

The organizers expect more than 30,000 attendees for this first edition, potentially giving us an incredible exposure to Korean drama fans and novices. 20,000+ festival brochures will be distributed definitely putting us on the map. Such environment shall also be favorable to attract a mainstream audience, compared with more specialized London Comic Con, Pan-Asia & Terracotta Film Festivals, and other South East-Asia-focused arts festivals.

As to make the most of this opportunity, we would like to invite volunteers to submit their application as to assist us in the preparation as well as during the event. Areas to be involved in are numerous including marketing, sponsorship and event management.
