KCCUK announces more film-centered programmes
We had announced recently that the KCCUK was looking to add more programmes to introduce Korean films to a wider audience.
That is becoming true with the announcement of a couple of events:
1) Korean Film Nights Amplified No.2 (Thursday 26 March): Dr Shin Chi Yun was announced as the speaker for a conference before the screening of Kim Jee-woon’s The Foul King on “genre mixing and star making”;
2) Korean Cinema Echoes (20-24 April): the KCCUK will screen at SOAS 5 Korean films adapted from novels, as to celebrate the London Book Fair. The films screened will include: The Daughter of Kim’s Pharmacy (1963), A Dwarf Launches a Little Ball (1981), Deep Blue Night (1985), Our Twister Hero (1992) and Chunhyang (2000). The last screening will be preceded by a talk with Dr. Grace Koh (SOAS) and Dr. Mark Morris (Cambridge University) on the historical context of literary adaption in South Korea;
3) Korean Language Course: Applications for the “Learn Korean within a Cinematic Context!” course are now open until April 8. More details on the KCCUK website.
