As we mentioned in our 2015 schedule, we will be taking part in the Kingston Welcomes Korea festival (July 31 – 8 August 2015).

Kingston has the largest Korean community in Europe, 10% of its population, and the organizers intend to take advantage of it by combining an arts festival with a trade fair.

As per its press release (5 April 2015), “four brilliant Korean dance and comedy teams will be visiting the Rose Theatre from Seoul. There will be Anglo-Korean concerts and recitals at All Saints Church and exhibitions from the new generation of Korean artists and designers at Kingston College’s Creative Industries Centre and Kingston Museum.

The Rose Theatre will host Jang-Ma-Dang, the Korean word for market place, where there will be the ideal networking and conference centre for British companies that want to do business in Korea and Korean companies that want to trade with Britain. The Guildhall will host a Green Debate, bringing together Eastern and Western views on climate change into one global discussion. There will be Korean designs for a new Royal garden for the Coronation Stone, a Korean picnic, drumming and break-dancing in the Market Square.”

Kingston Welcomes Korea “the brainchild of the British author and dramatist, John Elsom, and the Korean journalist and businessman, Kwon Sukha, who are co-directors of the festival.”

For more details about the festival, you can check their website and our updates here regarding the Korean drama event.

In the meantime, you are invited to the launch of the Kingston Welcomes Korea Festival on Monday, 13th April 2015, 11.00am at the The Rose Theatre (Upper Foyer Bar, 24-26 High Street, Kingston upon Thames).
