ScreenHits.tv, a UK startup that runs an online marketplace for TV content buyers, has added a small selection of Korean dramas to its highly curated platform.

Instead of providing hundreds of movies and TV shows like Netflix and Amazon, ScreenHits’ strategy has been to select a limited number of programs that are considered of interest for all audiences and buyers across the globe.

It is therefore interesting to see the Korean dramas that have been selected:

  • God’s Quiz (OCN, 2010-2014);
  • Vampire Prosecutor (OCN, 2011-2012);
  • Ice Adonis, aka Yellow Boots (tvN, 2012);
  • TEN (OCN, 2012-2013);
  • The Virus (OCN, 2013).

It is interesting to note that all these dramas revolve around crime or medical-related plots. They are also all distributed by CJ Entertainment & Media (CJ E&M), the company which owns cable channels OCN and tvN.

Ice Adonis has already been sold for remakes in Italy (Endemol) and Ukraine (1+1). According to Sparks Networks, which sold the format to 1+1, the Ukrainian remake is very successful. We hope that the other dramas will meet a similar fate and travel well across Europe, including here in the UK.
